Text trapped inside a picture is text you cannot search, translate or paste. A screenshot of an error message, a photo of a whiteboard, a scanned invoice, a slide from a webinar — retyping any of them by hand wastes minutes that add up fast. Optical character recognition solves this by detecting character shapes in the pixels and rebuilding them as real, selectable text.

This image to text converter runs a full OCR engine directly in your browser using WebAssembly, so you can extract text from an image without uploading anything to a server — a genuine difference when the picture is a contract, an ID or an internal dashboard. Drop in a JPG, PNG, WebP or BMP, pick the language, and a live progress bar tracks the engine as it loads and reads. The recognised text lands in an editable box you can fix, copy in one click, or download as a .txt file. English, Russian, Uzbek, Turkish, Spanish, German and French are all supported.

Зачем нужен Image to Text (OCR)

Copying text out of a screenshot

Error messages, chat threads and dashboards are often only shareable as images. OCR gets the exact wording back so you can paste it into a ticket or search for it.

Digitising a paper document

Photograph a receipt, invoice or printed letter and turn it into text you can edit in a spreadsheet or document instead of typing it in again.

Grabbing notes from a whiteboard or slide

After a meeting or lecture, convert photos of the board and the presentation slides into notes you can search months later.

Preparing text for translation

Menus, signs and foreign-language forms photographed on a trip become plain text you can drop into any translator.

Полезные советы

  • Match the language selector to the image before running — recognising Cyrillic text with the English model is the single most common cause of garbage output.
  • Crop away everything except the text block first; less noise means faster recognition and far fewer stray characters.
  • Aim for at least 300 DPI or a screenshot at full resolution — scaling a small image up in another tool does not add detail, but photographing closer does.
  • Straighten skewed photos before extracting; even a 5-degree tilt measurably lowers accuracy on dense paragraphs.
  • Watch the confidence score in the result header: anything under 70% deserves a proofread, especially digits, which OCR confuses more often than letters.

Часто задаваемые вопросы

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. The OCR engine runs inside your browser with WebAssembly, so the image itself never leaves your device. Only the language data file is downloaded, once, from a public CDN.

Why is the first extraction slower?

The first run downloads the OCR engine and your chosen language data. Your browser caches both, so every extraction after that starts almost instantly.

Which images give the best accuracy?

Sharp, straight, high-contrast images at 300 DPI or more. Blurry photos, heavy shadows and handwriting are the usual causes of poor results.
